What to expect?
Giovanni will discuss the medical and translational journal portfolio at Cell Press, with a particular emphasis on Cell Reports Medicine, and he will guide you through the ins and outs of the editorial process.
What is the journal’s scope?
Cell Reports Medicine is a premium open access, biomedical journal from Cell Press. It publishes translational and clinical research from exciting concepts in human biology, health, and disease to all phases of clinical work including clinical trials.

About the speaker:
Dr. Giovanni Monaco has progressed from academic research (PhD/Postdoc at KU Leuven, Belgium, and Monash, Australia) to industry-standard drug discovery work. He currently serves as a scientific editor for Cell Reports Medicine. His passion for translational and drug discovery research spans various medical fields, with a focus on Onco- and Neuro-Pharmacology advances.

Invited speakers—many from abroad—talk about their latest findings and IZN investigators provide an overview about concepts and perspectives of their research in this bi-weekly lecture series.
IZN Lectures: Everyone in the IZN community, including IZN doctoral students, is welcome to invite speakers from other universities and institutions to come to Heidelberg and share their research findings. Travel and accommodation expenses can be covered up to a maximum of 500€ by the IZN.
IZN Concepts Talks: All IZN investigators are invited to give concepts talks explaining the big picture behind the work going on in their labs and how it fits into our broader understanding of the function and dysfunction of the nervous system.
